Living on Sunshine

Updated: March 10, 2007

JASPER, and wherever the sun shines

You have to admit that living on sunshine sounds pretty dreamy.  For some of us it might even bring back memories of an era that gave hope to such dreams.  Love and peace and understanding...

Well, Alberta has 20 communities finally willing to step up to the solar plate and take a realistic look at 'living on sunshine' as part of the Alberta Solar Municipal Showcase.  Jasper is one such community (click to watchJasper's CN Community 'We're not gonna take it'video from Rainbow Communications) and now has a 1kw photovoltaic solar panel on the roof of its community centre.

(if the video takes too long to download try watching it on the Rainbow Communications site below - go to the solar showcase link on their site)

Rainbow Communications

The Made-in-Alberta team believes that the world's

climate and economy are changing, and so are the ways we produce and

use energy. We want to explore what these changes mean.  We

believe in the wisdom, ingenuity and compassion of an educated

public.  This is the basis of our work as media specialists.

Rainbow Communications used the Jasper based camera crew from DTMI to film the installation.  DTMI takes camera field work to a new level this year as well, all batteries and camera equipment are now solar charged on location!

Festivals, backcountry - DTMI recharges 'au natural'!

In keeping with the spirit of 2007- Jasper's Centennial - we at DTMI are collecting this years events and organizations doing what they do best throughout the year.  If your club or class is doing something that brings community together

- honours the people and the place in this special year -

we want to know!  These visual stories will be prepared into a CD/DVD format for a

YEAR IN REVIEW.
